Jonathan Kodjia could miss the Sheffield Wednesday clash on Saturday – if so is it the last chance for Scott Hogan to prove himself for Aston Villa?

Steve Bruce has warned that Aston Villa could be without both Jonathan Kodjia and Josh Onomah for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship this weekend.
Speaking after the 2-0 victory against Preston North End on Wednesday (November 1) night – a game in which Kodjia missed due to his ankle problem – Bruce was uncertain about the duo’s involvement on Saturday (November 4).

When asked about the striker playing, the manager told the club’s official website: “Possibly. We will see how he is tomorrow.
“We will see how Josh Onomah is, too. He has a sore groin.
“They are the major concerns.”

In Kodjia’s absence at Preston, Keinan Davis started upfront on his own before being replaced by Scott Hogan in the second half.
It is something of a damning indictment of Hogan that he is behind Davis in the pecking order after only making the £12m (BBC) switch from Brentford in January.
The Sun on Sunday (October 29, page 65) reported that the Villans would even be open to selling the 25-year-old in the upcoming January transfer window after scoring four goals in 29 appearances in all competitions since his move from Griffin Park.
Yet if Kodjia can’t play against Wednesday maybe Bruce will give the Irishman one last chance to impress him and let him lead the line? After all, with options in the position limited already, losing another is surely something Villa want to avoid if possible.
