Speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, Stephen Warnock has been full of praise for Andy Robertson.

The pundit was discussing the impact the full-bac has had at Liverpool, and he says that the Scot has surpassed all expectations since he arrived at Anfield.

Indeed, Warnock says that even Jurgen Klopp himself can’t have foreseen the level Robertson has gotten to at Liverpool.

What’s been said?

Warnock waxed-lyrical about Robertson, stating that he’s exceeded all expectations.

“I think if you start with Robertson, when you looked at the price coming in, Hull were struggling, to see what he’s capable of doing, it’s a credit to the scouting network and Jurgen Klopp watching him, to understand that he can fit into this system and understand what he can provide going forward. When you watch players, you don’t watch them the way they watch them. I think if Jurgen was to hold his hands up, did he think he could get to this level? There’s probably a feeling amongst the squad that they didn’t think he could do it. He’s exceeded all expectations and kicked on to a new level,” Warnock said.

Better than anyone thought

Warnock is absolutely right about Robertson, he’s proven everyone wrong, even Jurgen Klopp.

Robertson arrived as a player who had just been relegated at Hull City, and to begin with, Klopp left him on the bench in favour of Alberto Moreno.

But, as if from out of nowhere, Robertson became the Reds’ first-choice left-back, and before we knew it, he was one of the best full-backs on the planet.

Robertson has been better than anyone could have predicted and he has to go down as one of Liverpool’s best signings of the modern era.
