Speaking to Everton’s official website, Tom Davies has opened up on his desire to leave the Toffees on loan this summer.
The midfielder was struggling to get into the first-team towards the end of last season, and as you can imagine, that led to a bit of frustration on his end.
Davies has been very honest in admitting he wanted to leave on loan, but he says a conversation with Ancelotti convinced him to stay.
“At one point, I wanted to go on loan,” said Davies.
The midfielder then went on to explain why he wanted to go out on loan, before sharing a conversation he had with the manager.
“I went to speak to the manager and he gave me the reassurance that if I worked hard and carried on doing what I was, there would be opportunities for me”
“If it had been anyone other than Carlo Ancelotti, I might have pushed more, dug my heels in a bit and said I want to go out and show you how good I am.
“But the manager has been great for me, I knew he would be true to his word and I respect him so much.
“I cracked on, as I always have done, did everything right by myself, got fitter and stronger and worked harder in training.”

Davies was strongly linked with a loan move away from Everton, but it seems as though both the club and the player made the right decision here.
Davies is now getting the gametime he wanted, while the club are benefitting from having him in the squad.
The 23-year-old certainly won’t be thinking about a loan move this summer as he’s enjoying his best spell of first-team football since his debut at Goodison Park.
