Thierry Henry thinks Mo Salah’s ‘mis-control’ for his much-needed goal during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Ajax in the Champions League helped him open the scoring at Anfield on Tuesday.
The Premier League legend added that he might be ‘harsh’ to suggest that Salah ‘mis-controlled’ his first touch, with his right foot, when Diogo Jota threaded a through ball to him, but he thinks it allowed the forward to then ‘attack’ the situation a little bit more and get his team going.
Going into yesterday’s game, there was a lot of talk around Liverpool’s lack of form, with Jurgen Klopp describing last week’s defeat at Napoli as his ‘worst game’ since he has been at the club.

A number of individual players have come under the spotlight, Salah especially, with some questioning his performances, not from just this season, but the back end of the previous campaign.
But with yesterday’s goal, Salah has four goals in nine games in all competitions, which isn’t too bad for a player out-of-form, so imagine what top form looks like.
Nonetheless, this is what Henry told CBS Sports (13/09/22 at 10:20 pm) about Salah’s goal for the Reds in the Champions League.
“When you miss-control the ball as he did,” said Henry. “It actually sets it up because he didn’t have to think too much, he just went at it and scored.
“You know when you are in that (lack of) confidence and you are one v one with the keeper (then he probably misses).
“But he kind of mis-controlled it, if I can be that harsh, then he had to go and attack it and tackle it because the ball went away from him a tiny bit, sometimes when you don’t have to think too much you can go.”

MOMENTUM STOPPED
Last week, after Liverpool’s trip to Naples, they would have been one of the teams that probably benefitted from the Premier League games being postponed last week.
It allowed them to reflect, thrash out their problems and try to get as many issues out of their system as possible.
Yes, the win against Ajax wasn’t all rosy in the garden, but there were a number of positive individual displays, the team looked much better and it was a case of now kicking on.
But their weekend game against Chelsea has now been postponed and that loss of momentum won’t be helpful because they will have to try and now claw it back until after the international break.
