The Newcastle United striker could be the perfect addition for West Ham United.

Aleksandar Mitrovic celebrates scoring the second goal for Newcastle

According to a report from the Chronicle, Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic could leave this summer after the player grew frustrated at a lack of chances at St James’ Park.

The player’s agents have allegedly started looking at a possible move to Germany or Italy but there is a club in England who would be wise to make a move of their own if the forward is available.

West Ham United may have opted not to sign a new striker in January yet that does not mean they are sufficiently covered in that area.

Andy Carroll’s return to fitness and form is a welcome sight for all concerned but his injury history and an overreliance on the forward means the Hammers will surely sign another goal-scorer this summer.

Mitrovic may not have set the Championship alight but there is no doubting his innate talent and ability in front of goal, as his 44 goals in 90 matches for Anderlecht as a teenager proved. And despite being in and out of Newcastle’s side this season he has still found the net six times.

Still only 22, Mitrovic has years before he reaches his peak, and while his temperament is still questionable he could learn a lot working under Hammers boss Slaven Bilic.

With regular game time and the faith of his boss, Mitrovic could still take the Premier League by storm.

The question is: Will West Ham take the risk when the transfer window reopens later this year?
