‘If he doesn’t’: Alan Shearer says it’s now or never for one Tottenham player

Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Alan Shearer has claimed that this summer will be Harry Kane’s last chance to leave Tottenham.

Kane, famously, tried to leave Spurs last summer before deciding to stay for the 2021/22 season, but there has been constant speculation about whether or not he’ll once again look for a move this summer.

Shearer believes that if Kane doesn’t move this summer, he will never get his big transfer.

Shearer spoke about Kane’s future.

“On the other side of that, if he does stay, he’ll probably end up with the Tottenham record, breaking Jimmy Greaves’ record, he’ll end up with a statue outside the ground, and he’ll break the Premier League record, and a World Cup Golden Boot, that’s very important as well. In his defence, he’ll have those things, but if he doesn’t move this summer, it will never happen,” Shearer said.

Now or never?

Shearer says that it’s now or never for Kane, but we can’t help but disagree.

Yes, his age doesn’t play into his hands, but it’s not unheard of for strikers to get big moves well into their 30s.

Manchester United’s most recent big-name striker signings have been Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Barcelona have recently brought Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sergio Aguero to the club, despite both being older.

Kane’s best chance to leave may well be this summer, but it surely won’t be his last opportunity.
