‘If he comes in I’m done’: Some Villa fans downhearted after seeing ‘joke’ of a rumour

Some Aston Villa fans on social media have been reacting after it was reported that they’re interested in Roberto Martinez as a potential replacement for Dean Smith.

Villa sacked Smith over the weekend and the hunt for a new gaffer is on, and one of the options the Midlands club are reportedly sounding out is Martinez.

Interestingly, the fanbase weren’t best pleased to hear that Martinez is a candidate.

To be honest, Villa fans are being a bit harsh on Martinez. This is a manager who has won an FA Cup managed in a World Cup semi-final and taken Everton to the brink of a place in the Champions League.

On top of that, the Spaniard also plays some very attractive football. In our view, Martinez would be a decent appointment, but the fanbase see things rather differently.
