Antonio Cassano can’t understand why Romelu Lukaku would leave Inter Milan for Manchester City, telling Bobo TV on Twitch the Belgian superstar wouldn’t fit in under Pep Guardiola.
Well, there are two ways to look at this.
On one hand, Man City have rocketed to the top of the Premier League table while their all-time record goalscorer twiddles his thumbs on the sidelines.
Sergio Aguero has barely got a look in this season, with Guardiola preferring a striker-less system on occasions.
Then again, it would be wrong to suggest this ultimate purist doesn’t have a place in his heart for a classic, old-school number nine.
Mario Mandzukic enjoyed the most prolific season of his career at Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, while Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both broke the 20-goal barrier under the Catalan coach.
Cassano, then, may be going slightly overboard when he suggests Lukaku – a wonderful all-round footballer rather than a potato-patch plodder – would be on a hiding to nothing at the Etihad.

“If Guardiola takes him, I won’t support him any more. What does Lukaku have to do with (Pep’s) idea of the game?” fumed the former Real Madrid, Italy and Inter ace.
According to The Athletic, Man City are seriously considering a summer move for Lukaku, two years after he left bitter rivals United to join Inter in a £74 million deal.
The Belgian battering ram, who was described as a “world-class” talent by Guardiola during his Everton days, has fired Antonio Conte’s side to the verge of the Serie A table with 27 goals in all competitions.
But with Inter in a dire financial situation, could a return to Manchester be on the cards?
