Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are thought to be in danger of losing Barrie McKay to Nottingham Forest.

Glasgow Rangers winger Barrie McKay only recently told the Daily Record that he wants to stay at Ibrox, which means that the Scottish giants will only have themselves to blame if he does choose to move to Nottingham Forest.

Forest’s interest has been reported in the attacker (Nottingham Post), with Mark Warburton keen for a reunion with the youngster at the City Ground.

However, McKay’s recent comments suggest that all Rangers need to do to keep him away from Forest, is to offer him a new deal.

“My agent spoke to the club a while ago but they haven’t come back to us again since then. It’s up to them now,” McKay said.

“When they first spoke to my agent, the previous manager was still here. And when they sent an offer the new manager had come in.

“It took a while and since we got back to them, nothing has happened. This is where I want to stay.”

Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has made no secret of his desire to keep hold of McKay since taking charge, but time is running out for the Light Blues to sort out the 22-year-old’s future.

McKay has just over a year left on his contract at Rangers, and wants an improved deal to reflect his standing at Ibrox.

McKay has been one of Rangers’ most dangerous attacking threats this season, and is arguably the most talented player in their current squad.

McKay has scored six goals and claimed 11 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions of the Light Blues.

And if McKay is not playing at Ibrox next season, Rangers’ board will only have themselves to blame – for stalling over offering him new terms.
