The West Ham defender has been linked with a switch to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jose Fonte has been a West Ham United player for almost a year but his time at the club so far certainly hasn’t gone to plan as he has produced some inconsistent performances, while he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that has kept him out since October.
There have been suggestions that, despite him not being match fit at present, Fonte could leave West Ham in this month’s transfer window, with Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers interested in signing him, as reported by The Birmingham Mail.

While Fonte, at the age of 34, is in the latter stages of his career, bringing him in could prove to be an inspired move by Wolves, who are looking to secure promotion to the top flight as quickly as possible.
If Fonte can prove his fitness then it is certainly worth Wolves considering signing him, and the player may well be willing to move given that he has found matters difficult at West Ham.

Prior to joining West Ham, Fonte had earned many plaudits for his consistent performances for Southampton and is capable of reaching those heights again in a different environment.
