Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin scores their first goal

While Everton have tied youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin to a new long-term contract at Goodison Park, the Toffees continue to be linked with a number of new attacking options, meaning the 20-year-old’s short-term future may be elsewhere.

With the Daily Mail linking Everton with Henry Onyekuru and the print edition of Spanish newspaper AS (03/05/2017) claiming the Toffees are interested in Sandro Ramirez, it could be tough for Calvert-Lewin to add to his 10 appearances this season, with a bit-part role the very best he could hope for.

If that is the case, Leeds United would be wise to consider a loan move for the versatile attacker, who is equally comfortable as a left winger, a secondary striker or a centre forward.

He can also operate on the right if required and while Leeds currently have a number of wide options, some of those look set to leave at the end of the current season when their loan deals come to an end.

With an over reliance on Chris Wood this season, the youngster would also offer additional goal threat when required.

Calvert-Lewin is the ideal Leeds loan signing: a young player ready to step up who wants to improve, ultimately proving Everton manager Ronald Koeman that he is ready for a starring role.

Much will depend on who else Everton sign this summer, but if the 20-year-old begins to slip down the pecking order, Leeds should make the call.
