Everton are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan defender Davide Calabria.

Davide Calabria of AC Milan scores the team's second goal during the serie A match between AS Roma and AC Milan at Stadio Olimpico on February 25, 2018 in Rome, Italy.

Sam Allardyce is reportedly keen on luring AC Milan right-back Davide Calabria to Goodison Park in the summer, despite already boasting a number of right-sided defenders at Everton.

CalcioMercato claim Calabria, who has been a revelation in the Milan side since Gennaro Gattuso took over at the San Siro, is a long-term target for the Toffees even before the 21-year-old began to shine.

The 11-time Italy Under-21 international showed just what he is capable of on Sunday by finding the back of the net with an excellent chip over Roma goalkeeper Alisson, to help Milan win 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico.

There’s no surprises then that Everton want to sign a player that has the potential to go on and become one of the best right-backs in European football. But Allardyce must consider his own squad, before attempting to lure Calabria to England.

The Toffees already boast one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, in the form of Seamus Coleman, while Jonjoe Kenny has broken into the first team while Ireland international Coleman was sidelined with a broken leg.

Cuco Martina is also on the books at Goodison Park, but his versatility will save him when Allardyce is inevitably forced to make room for Calabria if he can tempt the Italian into swapping Milan for Merseyside.

Jonjoe Kenny of Everton arrives ahead of the Premier League match between Watford and Everton at Vicarage Road on February 24, 2018 in Watford, England.

Firmly behind Coleman in the pecking order, Kenny desperately needs game time and facing a three-way fight against Coleman and Calabria will push the 20-year-old down to third choice.

He should look to leave on loan if the Toffees sign Calabria, in order to continue and further his development after an impressive breakthrough into the first team earlier this season.
