Tom Rogic reportedly rejected a new contract at Celtic earlier this season.

Tom Rogic of Australia is challenged by James Rodriguez of Columbia during the International friendly between Australia and Colombia at Craven Cottage on March 27, 2018 in London, England.

Back in February, reports emanated from Tom Rogic’s home country of Australia that the left-footed playmaker had rejected a new Celtic contract.

Now, more than a month on, his future remains in doubt with only one more season set to run on his contract, which is reportedly worth £15,000 a week according to the Daily Star.

There have been no new reports of a contract in the offing for Rogic, after The World Game claimed he had turn down an offer because Celtic had tabled a deal well below the attacking midfielder’s requirements.

Despite being injured for much of the season, Rogic has continued to show just how effective he can be in the final third for the Hoops this term. Having a hand in 14 goals, Rogic has scored six and turned provider on a further eight occasions.

Losing the former Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Victory star would be an enormous loss to Brendan Rodgers’ side, so replacing him with a player that knows the requirements at Celtic is key.

It should see them go back in for one of their former players in Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen, who is currently in the form of his life with the west London club.

Stefan Johansen of Fulham celebrates scoring his sides first goal during the Sky Bet Championship match between Norwich City and Fulham at Carrow Road on March 30, 2018 in Norwich, England.

The 39-time Norway international scored 13 goals last season and has continued his impact in the final third this time around with seven goals and six assists in 40 league and cup outings.

Like Rogic, the left-footer has just a year remaining on his current contract at Craven Cottage and could be available this summer if Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic struggles to tie him down for the future.

With the lure of Champions League football and trophies, the Norwegian captain will know just what it feels like to play for Celtic following his 114 appearances for the Bhoys prior to his move to Fulham.

If Celtic sell Rogic, Johansen is the perfect replacement.
