Oumar Niasse has told The Beautiful Game Podcast that he would jump at the chance to reunite with Sam Allardyce at West Brom.
The 9-cap Senegal international said: ‘If Big Sam is interested, of course. I would be ready to jump in my car and drive to Birmingham.’
Niasse spent time at Everton under Allardyce’s guidance, where he enjoyed somewhat of a purple patch under the ex-England manager.
As Transfermarkt shows, the former Lokomotiv Moscow frontman netted three goals in 16 games under Allardyce, while also grabbing two assists.
While that might not seem like a purple patch, Niasse largely struggled at Goodison Park, scoring nine goals in 42 games.
The fact he enjoyed his best spell at Everton under Allardyce should be telling.
The newly-appointed Baggies boss once praised Niasse, during a period where the 30-year-old was being selected ahead of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in February 2018.
As quoted by Goal, Allardyce said: ‘Oumar’s grasped that position at the moment, making assists, scoring goals, holding it up well, so it’s made it difficult for me to replace him.’
Niasse might never have been prolific, although the attacking department is certainly an area in need of reinforcements.
West Brom have scored the third-fewest goals in the Premier League this season, netting just 11 goals in 15 games.
Allardyce could do with a new striker, and the fact he and Niasse know each other well is certainly interesting as we prepare for the January transfer window.
