The Aston Villa defender should not be shunted aside in favour of the former Blackburn Rovers man.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have taken Christopher Samba on trial as manager Steve Bruce attempts to find the solution to the club’s ongoing struggles.
The problem is, if Samba is the answer what on earth is the question?
The 32-year-old is a free agent after leaving Greek side Panathinaikos, but he is well past his best and if he signs a full-time contract with Villa it would be a slap in the face for Nathan Baker.
The 25-year-old has fought back from injuries to become a regular for Villa this season and while he has played his part in some recent setbacks it would be ridiculous to single him out when the entire squad has under-performed.
Prior to Bruce’s arrival, Baker looked to be rediscovering his best form and while there was still work to be done, it seemed he was finally going to get a run of games under his belt after being cast as the club’s sick note following a series of setbacks.

With Bruce persevering with Tommy Elphick, a move for Samba would seemingly push Baker further down the pecking order and that would be ridiculous.
Baker is a far better option than the Villa trialist and Bruce would be making a mistake thinking otherwise.
