Mikel Arteta’s job is at risk at Arsenal, and if reports are to be believed, they’re already being offered alternative options to the Spaniard.
Indeed, according to esteemed journalist Gabriel Marcotti, Antonio Conte has been offered to Arsenal, and while the Gunners aren’t entertaining the idea of appointing the Italian right now, it sounds as though he’s an option for if they need a new manager.
Marcotti also says that a big London club like Arsenal would appeal to Conte, seemingly suggesting that he’s an attainable target.

Conte would certainly be a fantastic appointment. After all, he’s a serial winner who has tasted success pretty much wherever he’s been.
However, if this rumour is true, you’d have to imagine that Daniel Levy wouldn’t be best pleased.
Indeed, it was widely reported this summer that Levy wanted to bring Conte to north London to manage Tottenham, and now it seems as though there’s a chance he takes over their biggest rivals.
Conte reportedly rejected Spurs due to the fact he was waiting for a bigger club to come along as he wanted to be back working at the very top level.
Now, there’s an eternal debate to be had about whether or not Arsenal are a ‘bigger’ club than Spurs, but nobody can argue which club is in a better position at the moment.
Arsenal are bottom of the league with a mediocre squad, while Spurs sit top of the league with arguably the best striker in the world in their ranks.
It’s hard to understand why Conte would be open to the Arsenal job when he didn’t want to join Spurs? Regardless, if Marcotti is right, then Levy has every right to be frustrated.
Of course, everything worked out ok in the end as Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to drop a Premier League point at Tottenham, but even though the former Wolves boss has had the perfect start, it’s hard to argue that he’s a better manager than the Serie A winning former Inter boss.
