A long-term Leeds United target might be joining an English club this summer…..but it’s not the Whites.
Leeds United fans might remember a certain Anthony Limbombe.
The 23-year-old was linked to Leeds in the summer of 2015 and 2016, during the final years of the Massimo Cellino era, before joining Club Brugge from NEC in the Eredivisie.
But the Belgian attacker may finally be joining an English club this summer and, if it materialises, United fans will be hoping that he flops for two reasons.
For starters, it’s the Whites’ Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town who are said to be interested, with Voetbal Nieuws reporting that Limbombe – worth £7 million according to Transfermarkt – has attracted interest from the Terriers.
But mainly, Leeds supporters should hope that he fails on the basis that it would be a lot more bitter for them if he joins the Premier League side and dazzles in the top flight next season and beyond.
Limbombe joined the Belgian side for £1.7 million [The Yorkshire Evening Post] in the same summer where Leeds splashed £3 million on Kemar Roofe and £2 million on Marcus Antonsson.
He wouldn’t have broken the bank, but he will break United fans’ hearts twice over if he joins Huddersfield and showcases his talents on the Premier League stage.
