The former Rangers and Brentford boss is a real coup for a club better known for off-field drama these days.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
With news breaking that Mark Warburton could be set to take the Nottingham Forest job, as reported by the Telegraph, if he’s allowed to do his job by owner Fawaz Al Hasawi, then he could be a big success.
Warburton comes to Forest with a 51.28% win ratio in English football following his amazing exploits at Brentford, whom he took to the Championship and then to the Championship play-offs in their first season as a newly promoted side.
However, as has proved the case on numerous occasions, it doesn’t matter who the manager is at Nottingham Forest, as owner Fawaz Al Hasawi finds a way to interfere with the manager’s position.
More than once has Al Hasawi sold players behind the manager’s back, generally products from the club’s youth academy, while the fans – and management – have been lied to time and time again.
Nottingham Forest fans
With someone of Warburton’s pedigree, he has to be allowed to manage without interference from above if Forest are to succeed, and if there is to be any glimmer of a road to redemption for Al Hasawi.
If he is allowed to do his job, then Forest – two points above the Championship drop zone – could be looking up the table sooner rather than later.
