Pundits Danny Mills and Andy Townsend have told BBC Radio Five Live that they have been impressed with Everton’s Idrissa Gueye so far this season.
The Toffees are enjoying a superb start to the season under new manager Ronald Koeman, with Saturday’s 3-1 home win over Middlesbrough meaning they have dropped just two points from their first give games.

With four wins on the bounce, Everton are already proving why Koeman was brought in to replace Roberto Martinez over the summer, as the Dutchman has made a huge impact in a short space of time.
One player who has epitomised Everton’s excellent start to the season is Idrissa Gueye, who suffered relegation to the Championship with Aston Villa at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old midfielder had been praised for posting similar numbers to N’Golo Kante, but he had been tarnished by Villa’s relegation. Whilst Kante was sold by Leicester to Chelsea for £32m, Everton paid just £7m to land Gueye (Daily Mail) – and they have been rewarded so far.

Gueye has turned in a number of dominant performances already this season, impressing with his passing as well as his tackling and interceptions, providing great energy alongside veteran Gareth Barry in midfield.
The Senegal international has received plenty of plaudits so far this season, and now former Premier League stars Danny Mills and Andy Townsend have offered their thoughts on his displays.
Working as pundits for BBC Radio Five Live, Mills and Townsend noted that Gueye will have been boosted by playing with great players at Everton – something he didn’t have at Aston Villa – whilst Townsend believes that Gueye will be so excited to playing under an icon like Koeman at Goodison Park.

“He’s surrounded by decent players that are playing well,” said Mills. “It doesn’t matter how good you are, that always raises your game. If you’re playing with good players, with confidence, your own game has to go up by 15-20%,” he added.
“He must feel ten feet tall at the moment, because I can only imagine what that Villa dressing room must have been like last season,” suggested Townsend. “Now, all of a sudden, to come out of that and into an Everton team that have a new coach – a very well respected coach – and new owners that are looking to invest money, he must be so excited about where he is, and yet it’s not that long ago that he was probably at the bottom of the barrel,” he added
