Everton ace Idrissa Gueye has told the club’s official website that he enjoyed playing alongside Morgan Schneiderlin during Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough.
The Toffees travelled to the North East in search of another three points having beaten Bournemouth 6-3 at Goodison Park in their previous game, but they were left frustrated by Middlesbrough.
A 0-0 draw saw Everton continue their fine recent form, as they’ve dropped just six points in the last eight Premier League games.
The game also saw manager Ronald Koeman start midfielders Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin together for the first time, with both impressing.
Whilst Schneiderlin joined the club from Manchester United in January, Gueye has been away on international duty with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning they have only just been able to link up.
Gueye and Schneiderlin looks to be one of the best defensive midfield partnerships in the Premier League, and they showed that against Middlesbrough by restricting Aitor Karanka’s side.

The pair look to be Koeman’s first-choice duo in the heart of midfield, and Gueye has now commented on the club’s big-money January addition.
Gueye has told the Everton official website that playing with Schneiderlin for the first time was good, because not only is he a top player, but they can also speak French together, and Gueye also noted that his first impression of Schneiderlin is that he is a ‘good guy’ and has settled in well.
“I enjoy playing alongside every midfielder. We have a lot and they are all good players,” said Gueye. “But playing together with Morgan for the first time was good because he speaks French. He can give me some directions and that is more easy for me to talk with him.”
“Morgan is a good guy and he settled easily into the team. We all like him. I need to improve on my English – Morgan’s is better than mine! We talk in English but if there’s something I don’t understand, we can speak in French and that is good for me,” he added.
