After four straight losses without scoring a goal, Everton got back on track last night.

The Toffees were fortunate enough to host Championship strugglers Sunderland in the Carabao Cup, and dispatched them with ease.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton scores a goal during the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Everton and Sunderland at Goodison Park on September 20, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Young talent Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted twice, before substitute Oumar Niasse made a rare appearance and made the score 3-0 with a goal of his own.

The victory appears to have lifted the mood at Everton.

Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye, an unused substitute, hailed the win commenting on Twitter after the game, while winger Yannick Bolasie expressed similar sentiments.

Everton host Bournemouth at Goodison on Saturday and this win gives them a bit of momentum to take into the game.

Both teams have struggled and they each sit in the relegation zone heading into the match, Everton in 18th with four points and Bournemouth with three points in 19th.

The Cherries’ last result was a victory over Brighton, but their last away trip ended in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Everton will hope to put distance between themselves and Bournemouth this weekend.
