Leeds United may need a short-term additional option in the centre with a new recruit arriving next summer.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Yosuke Ideguchi in January, after which they will loan him out until next summer in the hope of then securing a work permit.
As a result, the prospect of the Whites signing another midfielder permanently next month seems slim, with the alternative option of a loan likely to suit all parties.
After all, Leeds are not going to want to overload their central area, adding yet another player to a side that will see Ideguchi join Eunan O’Kane, Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips next season.
What Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen needs is a short-term fix, which makes the recent links with a loan move for Scott McTominay a sensible and viable option.
The Sun claims Leeds are among the clubs interested in signing the Manchester United youngster for the second half of this season and that would ensure the Whites have the strength in depth in the middle to push for promotion in 2018 without negating Ideguchi’s summer arrival.
If Leeds get it right in January, they could well secure the promotion that has alluded them for so long, but any permanent deals are likely to be reserved for other areas of the field, such as left-back and up front.
