The Toffees have enjoyed a relatively successful campaign thus far, and currently sit in seventh position in the Premier League table, but there is no denying that Ronald Koeman has to strengthen his options during the summer transfer window, if he is to take them forward next term.
The are numerous areas of the Everton squad that need to be addressed, but one area in particular is the full-back positions, what with the long-term injury sustained by right-back Seamus Coleman, and left-back Leighton Baines on the wrong side of 32.
Taking this into consideration, the addition of a versatile full-back will surely feature highly on Koeman’s list of priorities.
An interesting option for the Merseysiders could be Manchester United’s unsettled ace Matteo Darmian, who recently suggested that he would be open to a move away from Old Trafford in the summer.
The Italian told Tutto Mercato Web that he is undecided on his future, and refused to rule out the possibility of leaving United, leaving the door open for Everton to make a move.

The 27-year-old former Torino man is fully accomplished at playing in either the right or left-back roles and would be a far more experienced, and arguably more capable option than Mason Holgate during the absence of Coleman.
He would also provide great competition for Baines in the left-back position.
Darmian still has a little over two years remaining on his current deal with Jose Mourinho’s side, so he would surely still command a fairly substantial transfer fee.
Everton are in a strong position financially now though, so they should not be put off by any kind of fee that United demand for the Italian.
