Jose Mourinho has told Football London that, at this moment in time, Gareth Bale is not fit to face Liverpool, whilst he shared that Japhet Tanganga is set to be out of action for around ‘three weeks’.

The big story will, of course, surround Bale, who is yet to start a Premier League game since his return to Spurs, and he would have been eagerly awaiting to showcase his worth against Liverpool.

The last time he faced the champions of England would have been in the Champions League final for Real Madrid when he scored a quite spectacular overhead kick.

Nonetheless, it seems as though the Welshman won’t be on Merseyside on Wednesday night, as his Spurs teammates aim to maintain their status at the top of the league.

“We still have a training session,” said Mourinho. “Yesterday he [Bale] didn’t train with the team, he trained inside. At the moment I’d say no, but we’ll see.”

On Tanganga: “Shoulder injury vs Antwerp. No need for surgery, we believe conservative treatment will get him fit, but a couple of weeks, three weeks will keep him out.”

It is a shame that injury will hamper Tanganga again because he has been showing many promising signs ever since Mourinho joined the club.

Mourinho has been using him all across the back four, mainly in the Europa League, but he certainly has been a player knocking on that door.

As for Bale, he is still trying to start his motor after very little football over the years, but if he’s fit and firing for the business part of the season then Spurs have a dangerous and unused weapon on their hands.
