Bernardo Silva has been speaking to Football Daily about the Premier League title race, where he was asked specifically about Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, Football Daily asked the £43m man how he and his teammates at Manchester City view Liverpool in terms of the title race.
In response, Silva opted not to focus just on Jürgen Klopp’s side, but also commented on what Manchester United and Chelsea can offer.
The Portugal international said: “One of our title rivals. Chelsea, the Champions League winner. Manchester United, great signings this summer. I’d say United, Chelsea and Liverpool are the main rivals.”
He’s not wrong. Silva was perhaps asked about Liverpool and only Liverpool as England has become a two-horse race in recent years.
It must be said, however, that he seemed quite quick to deflect the question away from Liverpool.
That is perhaps a wise move, as the 27-year-old hasn’t really got the best relationship with the Reds after a series of unpopular antics.
What has Bernardo Silva done to Liverpool?
Well, Silva lost his cool with the Reds back in August 2020, taking to Twitter where he called the Liverpool supporters ‘pathetic’ for teasing him.
It came after Liverpool snatched the Premier League title away from the Citizens.
Before that incident, Silva could be seen refusing to applaud Klopp’s men when Manchester City were forced to give Liverpool a guard of honour.
Evidently, Liverpool and Silva have a spiky relationship.
We feel Football Daily were aware of this when asking the question – it seemed like they were potentially trying to get Silva to add fuel to the fire.
However, it seems he has learned from his past clashes with the Reds, and decided to deflect the question away from just Liverpool – a wise move.
