Liverpool fans on Twitter were left baffled by Chris Wilder’s comments after his Sheffield United side suffered a 2-1 defeat at Anfield over the weekend.

It was a game where a number of contentious decisions were made and Wilder wasn’t happy as he suggested his team deserved more.

At first, Wilder suggested that the reaction of the Liverpool players was proof that the penalty that was awarded to his side was correct and they should have had ‘a couple of more’, as posted by Blood Red.

And he also felt that Sheffield United losing on Saturday was ‘cruel’ to his side and they seemingly deserved more from the game, as quoted by Yorkshire Live.

Understandably, Liverpool fans didn’t think Wilder’s side deserved anything from their game and they were trying to understand what he was getting at from his penalty comments.

In truth, Sheffield United did take the lead from the spot-kick and they were the ones who in the end let that early lead slip.

It pushed the champions into second in the table and leaves the Blades with only one point from their opening six games.

A stark difference from how things were going for them last season.
