Danny Mills has stated that he would ‘rather be Leeds’ after a Sky presenter ribbed him about how a number of his former clubs aren’t doing so well this season, as he told the Football Centre (14/07/20 at 10:40 am).

The ex- Norwich, Hull, Middlesbrough and Charlton defender stated that he’s ‘not worried about’ the situation some of his former clubs find themselves in because ‘Leeds are coming back up’.

Leeds could well be a Premier League club by the end of the week as their late winner at Swansea over the weekend edged them closer to the promised land.

Before Sky Sports presenter, Rob Wotton, reminded Mills of how some of his former clubs are doing, he shared his thoughts on how relegation-threatened, Charlton, could be destroyed by the Whites when they face each other on the final day of the season.

“The only saving grace for them [Charlton to survive] is that they have got Wigan, and on the last day of the season they have Leeds,” Mills told Sky Sports. “Now, it could be all over by then [for Charlton]. I’m pretty sure it will be.

“I don’t think Leeds will have anything to play for. It’ll be there last home game and Leeds could effectively destroy anybody, especially when the pressure is off. I think Charlton have to try and hope that if it goes down to the last game that Leeds are more concerned about celebrating being promoted.

Sky presenter, Wotton, then tells Mills that it’s a good job that Leeds and Man City are doing what they are doing because the rest of his old clubs aren’t doing so well [Hull, Boro, Charlton and Norwich]

“Leeds are going to be back in the Premier League,” Mills responded. “Let’s not worry about that. Leeds are coming back up – I’d rather be Leeds, three points clear with three games to go.”

Compared to last season, it does seem as though the Leeds players have learnt their lesson and are ensuring they are going to be rewarded for the job they have done on the field of play this term.

Leeds were no doubt one of the top two sides in the second-tier last season, but after falling into the play-offs, they weren’t able to recover and earn promotion.
