Ajax winger Ryan Babel has admitted that he would consider a move to Rangers as long as former Liverpool coach Steven Gerrard is prowling the touchline at Ibrox, while speaking during an Instagram Q&A with Sport Bible.
There are not many players on planet earth with a CV as long and varied as the 33-year-old Dutchman.
Since making his debut at Ajax 16 years ago, Babel has represented nine clubs in six different countries, including Fulham, Galatasaray, Besiktas and Hoffenheim.
A man once likened to Thierry Henry thanks to his searing pace and eye for goal saw his reputation as a budding youngster take a battering during an ill-fated spell at Liverpool however, with a dramatic winner against Manchester United one of the few bright spots from his time on Merseyside.
Nevertheless, captain fantastic Gerrard obviously left a mark on Babel. And the chance to reunite at Rangers, a decade on, is one the 63-capped international would consider.

“I think I’d play for Rangers just for the fact that Steven Gerrard is the coach,” says Babel, who has struggled for form since returning for a third spell at Ajax recently.
Unfortunately for him, it seems that the days of big-name, high-earning veterans arriving at Ibrox are all but over.
The likes of Joey Barton, Philippe Senderos, Bruno Alves and Niko Kranjcar flopped in Glasgow and, while Rangers made an exception with Jermain Defoe, it feels unlikely that they would be willing to offer Babel a return to Britain in the twilight of his career.
