West Ham United playmaker Manuel Lanzini has admitted that he would ‘love’ to return to River Plate when his time at the London Stadium comes to an end, in quotes reported by BolaVip.
Many an Argentinian footballer dreams of seeing his career go full circle, with Carlos Tevez openly pining for many years for a second spell at Boca Juniors while speculation has risen of late about the prospect of Sergio Aguero wearing the iconic shirt of Independiente again.
And Lanzini, it seems, is already planning to end his footballing life where it begun.
The Albiceleste international made his professional debut with River Plate about a decade ago and, while he still has a lot to offer at the top level at the age of 27, Lanzini already has his plan worked out.
“Deciding or considering the future is difficult. I would love to be able to return to River, I miss going out to the Monumental, living day by day and listening to the songs,” said a man who left the Argentinian giants to join Al Jazira in 2014.
“But the truth is that I’m happy here and I’m still learning.”
Lanzini was one of the most influential playmakers in the Premier League not so long ago but a prolonged spell on the sidelines with injury means the all-action attacker is yet to rediscover his brilliant best in claret and blue.
He has started just 12 Premier League games this season and a place in David Moyes’s XI could be even more difficult to obtain once Pablo Fornals adapts to life on English shores.
