Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumour that the club are willing to make Erik Ten Hag the third-highest paid manager in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail have claimed that Newcastle are willing to pay £11 million per year for the current Ajax boss.

It has been a week since Newcastle sacked Steve Bruce and the club are no closer to bringing in a new name.

Newcastle fans have backed the idea of Ten Hag coming into their club and being that statement arrival.

Ajax have scored the most goals in Europe this season and they have also conceded the least amount of goals as well.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Dutchman is such a sought-after coach.

But, whilst he can shine the light bright in Ajax colours, it’s a different kettle of fish taking the Newcastle job.

If they were a stable mid-table club, then fair enough, but this is one that is sitting in the relegation zone, without a win to their name this season.

Either way, Newcastle fans are slightly excited at the prospect of Ten Hag taking to the St James’ Park dugout.

But, of course, it’s all talk yet and because of their situation, they may have to bring someone in of a lower calibre, before they can seriously start throwing their money around.

Here is a selection of Newcastle fans reacting to the latest Ten Hag rumour:
