Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that he would love Liverpool to sign Ben White this summer, after being asked his valuation of the centre-back by a Leeds United fan.
Leeds have been chasing White throughout the summer so far, but they have now walked away from a deal, according to Sky.
Brighton are demanding big money for White, but MacAnthony feels that the south coast’s club’s £40 million valuation (Star) of the 22-year-old is fair and, as a Liverpool fan, he would like to see Jurgen Klopp’s side bid.
Peterborough were one of the sides who helped developed White, as he spent a brief spell on loan there, before joining Leeds last season.
The Whites have seemingly given up on getting the youngster away from Brighton on a permanent deal, but Liverpool have actually been linked by the Daily Star.
Liverpool may also struggle to agree his fee, but he would be an intriguing addition for Klopp’s side.
The Reds already have Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk at the back, but Dejan Lovren’s departure has opened the door for another centre-back to join, and White would make a brilliant covering option.
