Jermaine Beckford says he would like to see Leeds United teenager, Mateo Joseph, start and be provided with a ‘chance’ by Javi Gracia.
Leeds United have conceded 11 goals from their last two home games and they travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham at the weekend.
Will Javi Gracia ring the changes? Well, Beckford would like to see that, as he suggested that two forwards start, with the ‘very, very good’ Mateo Joseph being one of them.
The 19-year-old has made three Premier League appearances for the club, all under different managers, but he is yet to start.
Given the pressure cooker of a relegation battle that Leeds face. Would Gracia start Joesph when he’s not played those difficult minutes before?
Well, given the performances of the last few matches, something has to give and Beckford wants Joesph to start, as he told Sky Sports News (19/04/23).
“I don’t mind the idea of playing 4-4-2,” said Beckford. “Two centre-forwards. I am a centre-forward myself and I have always enjoyed having two players up top.
“Mateo Joesph is a very, very good forward. He does know where the back of the net is. He is still a little bit inexperienced. But I would like to see him given a chance.”
STILL OUT OF DANGER
Even though Leeds fans have watched their team produce complete and utter dross recently, they are still out of danger.
Southampton are sitting bottom and they seem out of it. Leicester City haven’t won in eight games, whilst Nottingham Forest have raised their glass even further and they haven’t won in ten.
This might just be the pure example of others teams being so woefully bad that Leeds stay up, on that basis, and not because they put together a few good results.
