Arsenal and Aston Villa fans praised Troy Deeney after he posted a Twitter message yesterday following Watford’s relegation.

Deeney was unable to stop Watford’s relegation over the weekend, as their defeat to Arsenal also played a part in Villa remaining in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old stated on Twitter that it has been a year of ‘ups and downs’ for the Hornets and those who have waited to ‘hammer’ him for years now have their chance.

From Villa’s perspective, Deeney is a boyhood Birmingham fan and there has always been some bite when he has come up against the Midlands side – he scored during a defeat against Villa this term.

As for Arsenal, Deeney is famous for his ‘cojones’ comments, which was aimed at the North London club following Watford’s win against the Gunners back in 2017, as quoted by The Independent.

It would be pretty understandable for the Villa and Arsenal fans to rub it in when Deeney was relegated, and for some, remind him of his recent comments.

But there were others who wished him luck for the future, even stated that they wouldn’t mind him at their club and backed him to earn promotion back to the promised land.

Here is a selection of Arsenal and Villa fans reacting to Deeney’s comments:
