A selection of Wolves fans and Tottenham supporters themselves defended Matt Doherty following his performance during his side’s 2-1 win against Brighton last night.
There was the suggestion that the 28-year-old had a poor game on the night despite his side securing all three points through a Gareth Bale header.
But a section of Wolves fans pointed out how Jose Mourinho is using the Republic of Ireland international as a right-back when he is better suited playing as a wing-back.
That’s the position Doherty played during his days at Molineux and it’s those performances which played a part in him moving to North London this summer.
Some Wolves fans simply couldn’t understand why Doherty is being played as a right-back, whilst Spurs supporters urged one another to give him time.
Doherty hasn’t exactly been a regular since moving to the capital because Mourinho has rotated him in and out of the starting XI.

In truth, if he is to produce the performances he used to put on in the Midlands then he needs regular game time in Mourinho’s team.
But the games come thick and fast for Spurs because of their Europa League commitments on Thursday nights, so it will be interesting to see if he starts once again in a few days time.
Nonetheless, here is a selection of Wolves fans and Tottenham supporters themselves defending Doherty for his performance against Brighton:
