Jermaine Beckford has urged Callum Wilson to join Tottenham by insisting that ‘I would go’ if he had the chance to sign for the London club, as he told Sunday Session on TalkSport (09/08/20 at 2:35 pm).
But the former Premier League striker claimed that Wilson potentially joining Spurs opens the door for Harry Kane to leave and it provides the chance for the club to make ‘£150 million’ from the sale of their star man.
The Sun have reported that Spurs want to sign Wilson from relegated-Bournemouth and Daniel Levy is preparing a bid for the England international.
During his career, Beckford also made the jump up from the lower leagues to England’s top-flight when he joined Everton, as he shared what could happen if Wilson does sign for Spurs.
“If he does go there, which if I was in his position, I would go there,” Beckford told TalkSport. “The reason being is that Harry Kane over the last few years has been injury-prone, which has been unfortunate for himself and Spurs.
“But looking to the future, you can sort of see that happening more and more. If Wilson goes there, he is going to become number one eventually.
“Spurs will look at it ‘if we have this guy who is ready-made in the Premier League, he knows where the back of the net is, he’s very good and had a taste of international football with England’ – we can afford to get rid of Harry Kane now.
“I’m not saying that Spurs need to get rid of Harry Kane. If they bring somebody else in that’s ready and knows how to score goals then that’s £150 million, you can make on Harry Kane.”

Wilson is the type of player Tottenham fans have been crying out for and he is a perfect fit in regards to playing a back-up role behind Kane.
His performances for Bournemouth during the recently-concluded campaign isn’t something to jump up about, but luckily enough, he has proven before that there are goals in there, it’s just a case of getting them out.
Kane has been injury-prone for a number of seasons now and if the same happens again then it would allow Jose Mourinho to use an experienced player in that position in Wilson rather than having to scrape the barrel and make a number of changes to his frontline.
