Jose Enrique thinks that Manchester City should try to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane as Sergio Aguero’s long-term replacement, as he told Stadium Astro.

Even though recent injuries have prevented Kane from getting his hands on the Golden Boot, the Tottenham man has still been one of the best Premier League top marksman in recent years.

Aguero is coming towards the end of his career, with the Premier League legend playing ahead of Gabriel Jesus in the Etihad pecking order.

Depending on City’s situation with Champions League football next season, Enrique said that ‘I would do it’ in regards to signing Kane, who he described as ‘top-level’.

“Gabriel Jesus is a really good player,” Enrique told Stadium Astro. “I really like him. I believe he is completely different from Sergio Aguero.

“But if they [Man City] should go for someone, maybe of a top-level like Harry Kane. Someone like that. I would do it if I was [Man City]. But again, it’s going to be a very difficult transfer window for everyone.”

Tottenham are seemingly are on a tricky path with Kane, who could be heading for their exit door if things don’t improve on the pitch next season.

If Jose Mourinho can bring trophies to North London then there’s no doubt Kane would stay with his club for the long-term.

But the fear will set in with the fans if they find themselves declining even further next term.
