Michael Owen has stated that he is ‘fearful’ of Leeds United’s chances of surviving relegation from the Premier League.
The former striker shared that Leeds have to get something from their Monday night fixture against Crystal Palace because they will ‘get nothing’ from Manchester City, Chelsea are ‘too good’ for them and he would be ‘surprised’ if they get anything away at Arsenal.
When Burnley sacked Sean Dyche, many expected that to be the start of the end for the Clarets and their possible return to the Championship.
But it has been far from that case because they have picked up two wins and a draw since then and they are currently out of the bottom three.
If Leeds can beat Palace at Selhurst Park, or at least earn a point, then it would ease the pressure on them because Owen is worried about their fate, as he told Premier League Productions (24/04/22 6:55 pm).
“Leeds could get dragged into it here,” said Owen. “If they don’t get something against Crystal Palace, then all of a sudden, I can’t see them getting much from the three games after.
“Then, they are probably going to have to get four points out of the last two games, so Leeds are in trouble as well.
“I am looking at that minus 30 goals difference and that would worry me – it might mean Leeds need 39 points to survive (because of their GD).
“They can get six points, but they are getting nothing out of Man City. I would be surprised with Arsenal away. Chelsea are too good for Leeds as well. They are going to need a couple more wins, it’s going to be tight for Leeds. I would be fearful if I was in their camp.”

The other issue facing Jesse Marsch is the fact that his side have a much worse goal difference than both Burnley and Everton.
So, if it comes down to that then all those goals they shipped under Marcelo Bielsa will well and truly come back to bite them.
But they have to look at the positives and that’s the fact that Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are back, which is huge during these final few weeks.
Leeds have lacked that balance without their star duo marshalling their midfield and defence.
