Paul Merson has predicted in The Daily Star that Liverpool will beat Manchester City to the Premier League title again next season.

The former Arsenal star, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Liverpool are more consistent than Pep Guardiola’s side.

Merson has said that he would be surprised if Jurgen Klopp’s side do not make it back-to-back league triumphs.

The Merseyside outfit have won the Premier League title this season, with City set to finish second.

Merson wrote about Liverpool in The Daily Star: “I’d be surprised if they didn’t go on and do it again next season.

“Manchester City are a brilliant team, make no mistake and they can blow anyone away on their day.

“But Liverpool are more consistent. They can win games when they are not playing well and City haven’t been able to do that because their defence hasn’t been as good.”

Competitive season

Liverpool have been head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in England this season.

While the Reds will stay strong and perhaps even get better if they make some good signings in the summer transfer window, City are also going to make additions to their team in order to close the gap.

Perhaps Manchester United and Chelsea will have an eye on the Premier League title next season as well, and will want to at least give Liverpool a run for their money.

It is not going to be easy for the Reds next season, but if they play the way they have done in 2019-20, then it is going to be extremely hard for their challengers.
