Paul Merson has stated that he would be ‘really shocked’ if Harry Kane doesn’t score for Tottenham against Leeds on Sunday, as he told Sportskeeda.

The TV pundit thinks the international break has been ‘really good’ for the England captain as he backed Spurs to beat Leeds.

Football supporters across the country will be celebrating with joy with the fact that there won’t be another international break for four months.

This is where the tough, sleepless nights and tired legs start to kick in for players and managers because the games will come thick and fast now.

And Merson feels that Leeds will start this festive and busy road with a defeat because someone like Kane will enjoy playing against their backline.

“I’d be really shocked if Harry Kane doesn’t score in this game,” said Merson. “The international break was really good for him – it doesn’t get any better than seven goals from two games.

“It could turn out to be the kick-start he needs to get his scoring boots on in the Premier League and the way Leeds United play could also work in his favour.

“I’m going for a 2-0 Tottenham win in Antonio Conte’s first home game in charge of the club, with Kane continuing his fine form by scoring both goals.”

It’s only the small matter of scoring seven goals during these past two England games for Kane.

It may have been against teams Leeds United’s U19’s could beat, but it’s morale-boosting for Kane, nonetheless.

Whilst Spurs will have their key man hoping to fire in the goals up top, the same can’t be said for Leeds.

It seems as though Patrick Bamford, who has been out of action since the previous international break, is still on the sidelines.

Given the lack of depth in this Leeds squad, it’s not helpful to anyone.
