It’s fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur fans aren’t keen on the thought of Mauricio Pochettino managing Manchester United.
Pochettino to Manchester United?
The Daily Mail suggest that Pochettino is ready to quit PSG to join United, as they search for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
If Pochettino does return it will be the first job he has taken in English football since his sacking at Tottenham back in 2019.
Pochettino has always suggested before that he sees Spurs as his club, and there was even talk of a potential return when Jose Mourinho departed.
At that time, PSG stood by the Argentine and were reluctant to let him leave.
But Pochettino hasn’t fully convinced at the French champions so far, and they may be more receptive if United were to make an offer at this stage.
The potential of the deal happening is now causing some concern at Tottenham.
Spurs fans still hold Pochettino in high regard, and while there is no huge rivalry between them and United, the thought of him managing another Premier League side is still one which doesn’t sit comfortably with Lilywhites fans.
Worry for Spurs?
Tottenham’s fans issue with Pochettino potentially joining United wouldn’t necessarily all come down to loyalty either.
The Red Devils would surely be a stronger outfit with him in charge than with Solskjaer.
Pochettino has proven himself to be among the very elite managers in football right now.
He would provide United with a greater structure and surely get their players working in unison more than they have done under Solskjaer this term.
WIth Tottenham and United both still having eyes on fourth spot, they could come into direct competition with each other.
And Spurs fans know better than most the quality that Pochettino could bring at Old Trafford, if he is put in charge.
