If rumours are believed, Arsenal want to sign a former Chelsea player in the January transfer window.
According to The Mirror, the Gunners, who beat the Stamford Bridge club on Boxing Day, are keen on bringing Tariq Lamptey to North London next month.
The 20-year-old has been a revelation since leaving Chelsea to join Brighton & Hove Albion – who host Arsenal tomorrow night – almost a year ago.
And some fans of the West London side don’t seem overly happy about the idea of him joining their capital rivals.
Here’s how Chelsea fans are reacting to the speculation of a move to Arsenal:
Does Mikel Arteta need him? Well it’s debatable.
You could argue that although Lamptey is a fine talent, he’s also a right-back and Arsenal need a creative midfielder more than anything else this winter.
So far, Arteta’s side have managed only 15 goals in 15 Premier League games, underlining the importance of signing a playmaker.
And let’s face it, being young, very talented and English, Lamptey isn’t going to come cheap and therefore maybe it’s smarter for the North Londoners to use the bulk of their January budget on a player who will definitely improve them.
