Jamie Carragher has suggested Liverpool to sign just Alexis Mac Allister but Mason Mount as well.

The Sky pundit stated his case for the Chelsea midfielder to be made a priority signing for Jurgen Klopp’s men on The Anfield Wrap.

While there seems to be a division over whether Mason Mount was ever a top-quality player online, Jamie Carragher believes his addition, alongside Alexis Mac Allister at Liverpool would be smart business.

Jamie Carragher says Liverpool should sign not just Alexis Mac Allister but Mason Mount too

Branded as ‘the Premier League’s most underrated superstar’ by Stats Insider, Mount has not covered himself in glory this season.

The Englishman has lost his place at Stamford Bridge, as he seems to be undergoing a similarly rough patch to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford from last season.

However, Jamie Carragher believes that while Liverpool should sign Alexis Mac Allister, they should try to bring Mason Mount to Anfield as well.

“I think the club has to think about the English situation and the homegrown players. [James] Milner is moving on, [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain too. Joe Gomez isn’t playing every week, Jordan [Henderson] is getting older. That has to be in the back of people’s minds as well. If we brought [Alexis] Mac Allister and Mason Mount in, I would be delighted with that.”

Mason Mount would be a cracking signing for the Reds

Jamie Carragher is spot on as in some ways about not just Alexis Mac Allister but Mason Mount, as he is the ideal Liverpool midfielder, especially considering the profiles Jurgen Klopp seems to prefer.

The Champions League winner combines technical quality with an engine, which makes him the type of midfielder that would elevate this Reds side.

Mount is a hybrid between a No.8 and a No.10, and as he showed in the previous campaign that he can produce numbers (10 goals and 11 assists in the league), he is certainly worth considering for the club.

To disregard Mason Mount’s largely impressive time at Chelsea would be a case of being reactionary, as every player has ups and downs in their career.
