Speaking to SportsLens, Ray Parlour has been discussing Gabriel Martinelli’s World Cup performances and the idea that two of his teammates were refusing to pass to him during Brazil’s game against Cameroon.
Indeed, there’s been a rumour doing the round that both Fred and Rodrygo Goes were actively avoiding passing the ball to Martinelli during the final group game, but Parlour believes that this is a load of old rubbish.
The pundit says that he’d be amazed if this was the case, stating that he’d never seen or heard of that happening during his career.

Parlour discussed the idea that Brazil players don’t want to pass to Martinelli.
“I’d be amazed if that’s going on, I never came across that in my career. I’m sure if Martinelli gets in a good position they’ll give him that ball. I’d love to know the ins and outs of that and if it did happen that’s totally wrong,” Parlour said.
I’m sure the manager would pick up on something like that and bring it up. I wonder what Martinelli thought about it? It looks like Brazil are enjoying themselves at the moment, the fans are happy and all think they’re going to win it.
Surely not
This sort of rumour does the rounds every now and then, but we can’t see this being true.
You don’t work your way to the top of this sport if you’re an inherently selfish player, so it’s hard to imagine any Brazil internationals taking this stance.
On top of that, why would they single out Martinelli? He’s clearly one of the most talented players at this tournament, so giving him the ball would only benefit the team.
It’s hard to imagine that this is anything more than just a rumour.
