Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has been discussing Spurs’ reported interest in Memphis Depay.
Tottenham have recently been linked with a move for the Barcelona forward, and this is certainly an intriguing rumour.
Logic would suggest that Spurs don’t need another attacker after adding Richarlison to their ranks, but links to Depay have been persisting for some time.
Mokbel isn’t led to believe that this is a priority signing for Spurs, stating that the London outfit want a centre-back and a right wing-back signed before anything else, but he does state that this one could potentially come onto the table if there is money left over at the end of the summer.
What’s been said?
Mokbel gave his verdict on the Depay rumours.
“I think Tottenham and Conte have bigger priorities at the moment, a left-sided centre-back is imperative, a right wing-back is absolutely imperative. Getting deals for those two players will be the priority and maybe if there’s money to spend at the end of the window and Depay is available, that could be the icing on the cake for Tottenham’s window for sure,” Mokbel said.

Possibility
There’s a real possibility that Tottenham will have some cash left over after signing a centre-back and a wing-back this summer.
Clement Lenglet appears to be the centre-back that Spurs have settled on, and he will be joining on an initial loan, so that shouldn’t cost too much.
Meanwhile, Djed Spence is the wing-back target, and at a reported £15m, his arrival shouldn’t break the bank either.
Of course, we don’t know the extent of Spurs’ budget this summer, but if Lenglet and Spence are signed, perhaps Tottenham could stretch their finances to sign someone like Depay.
This is certainly one to keep an eye on.
