Ibrox new boy Ryan Kent shares what Steven Gerrard told him about Rangers move

Rangers have secured a deal to bring Ryan Kent to Ibrox.

Rangers new boy Ryan Kent has told the club’s official website that he spoke to manager Steven Gerrard in-depth ahead of completing his move to Ibrox.

The Gers had already tied up nine new signings this summer, with Allan McGregor, Jon Flanagan, Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria, Lassana Coulibaly, Jamie Murphy and Umar Sadiq all signing on the dotted line.

Rangers aren’t done just yet though, and after two poor attacking displays against Macedonian side FK Shkupi, fans have been calling for attacking reinforcements to arrive.

Gerrard hasn’t been blessed with a host of options out wide, but he has now called in another favour from former club Liverpool with the signing of winger Ryan Kent, who follows teammate Ejaria to Ibrox.

Kent, 21, has come up through the ranks with the Reds having joined the club back in 2003, but he has made just one first-team appearance for Liverpool having struggled to break through.

After loan spells with Coventry City, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City, Kent is on the move again, and will spend this season with Rangers after Gerrard struck another deal with Jurgen Klopp.

The pacey wide man should play a prominent role out wide for Rangers, and he has told the club’s official website that he spoke in-depth with Gerrard about how the Gers boss can benefit him and how Kent can benefit Rangers.

Kent noted that he had to feel like he was making the right move after a difficult campaign last season, and he was made to feel that Rangers are the perfect choice.

“I spoke in-depth with him [Gerrard] about the opportunities I will get up here, how he can benefit me and how I can benefit the club,” said Kent. “I had to take a lot of time speaking with my family and my representatives to make this decision as last season was quite a disappointing year. This move had to be the perfect one, and when Rangers came around, I think it is,” he added.
