Rangers take on Celtic at Ibrox this afternoon – and Joey Barton has thrown his support behind the hosts.
Rangers flop Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to throw his support behind his former club as they gear up to face Celtic this afternoon.
Barton, 34, helped Burnley win promotion to the Premier League last season, but chose to leave Turf Moor in order to join Mark Warburton’s Rangers side.

Seen as a marquee signing for the Gers due to his reputation in England, Barton came in as a player who could help Rangers challenge Celtic – but the move proved to be a complete disaster.
Barton not only struggled in his eight games for Rangers – including the 5-1 defeat at Celtic in September – but was then caught up in a training ground bust-up with manager Warburton and team-mate Andy Halliday just days after that Celtic defeat.
Joey Barton looks dejected during Rangers’ 5-1 defeat to Celtic
Fast forward more than three months, and the Old Firm rivals meet again this afternoon, with both sides in great form heading into the encounter at Ibrox.
Rangers have dropped just two points in their last five games, whilst Celtic have won each of their last 14 league games, and a win today would take the Bhoys one step closer to a sixth straight title.
Ahead of this afternoon’s clash, Barton has taken to Twitter to throw his support behind Rangers, tweeting ”Mon the Teddy Bears’ along with the blue, white and red of Rangers.
Fans may be glad to see the back of Barton after a tumultuous time at Glasgow, but he clearly still has affection for the club – and he’ll be hoping to see the Gers claim a win over their bitter rivals this afternoon.
