Halliday was making his first league start of the season for Graeme Murty’s Rangers.

Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday made his first Scottish Premiership start of the season as Graeme Murty’s side cruised to a 4-1 win at St Johnstone on Tuesday.
Halliday, however, may not have expected to line up on the left of Rangers’ back four – a position in which he has played only a handful of times throughout his career.
Afterwards, Josh Windass – one of Rangers’ goalscorers in Perth – joked that the boyhood Gers fans is better than Marcelo – Real Madrid’s Brazilian international left-back.
It is fair to say, however, that many of the Ibrox faithful do not agree with that assessment…
Others, though, are more appreciative of Halliday’s efforts…
Goals from James Tavernier [penalty], Windass, Sean Goss and Alfredo Morelos saw Rangers ease to a 4-0 lead against St Johnstone, who later replied through Jason Kerr.
The win moves Murty’s men to within six points of Premiership leaders Celtic, whose home game against Dundee on Wednesday is now postponed.
