Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has told The Scottish Sun that midfielder Billy Gilmour has a decision to make over a potential move to Chelsea.

Gilmour, 15, was become the star name of the Rangers academy this season, having starred for club and country at various youth levels.

The young midfielder has now attracted Premier League interest, and after links to a host of clubs, he could be closing in on a move to England this summer.

As reported by the Daily Record, Chelsea are looking to lure Gilmour to West London in a deal that could be worth around £500,000, with the Gers poised to benefit financially should Gilmour leave.

Having nurtured Gilmour in recent years, Rangers are unsurprisingly keen to keep the youngster at Ibrox, whilst some believe Chelsea isn’t the right move for him.

A number of youngsters have been lost in the shuffle at Stamford Bridge in recent years, including former Celtic talent Islam Feruz, who has yet to make even a single appearance for the Blues.

With the deal seemingly edging closer, Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson has told The Scottish Sun that Gilmour must now make his decision, whether to stay at Ibrox or head to London.

Robertson admitted that Rangers want Gilmour to stay and develop, and will do their very best to keep him out of Chelsea’s clutches – but they may well be fighting a losing battle on that front.

“Billy has got a decision to make, really,” said Robertson. “It’s a key stage of his career, we would love him to stay but we will see what happens. From a club’s perspective we want to keep our best players and that’s the key thing for us that we do the best thing we can to try and retain his services,” he added.
