Rangers and interim boss Graeme Murty take on Dundee at Dens Park this evening.

Rangers boss Graeme Murty has told The Scotsman that he wants Rangers to show the same resiliency that Paris Saint-Germain showed against Celtic.

Celtic made the trip to France on Wednesday night for their Champions League group stage clash with Paris Saint-Germain, and actually took a shock lead through Moussa Dembele.

After losing 5-0 to Unai Emery’s men earlier in the competition, Celtic were then hoping to keep the goals out at the other end – but they fell to a torrid defeat.

Neymar and Edinson Cavani both bagged braces, with Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti and Dani Alves also finding the back of the net in a thumping 7-1 win for the French giants.

Celtic were left reeling from another heavy Champions League defeat, but it’s back to league action in Scotland this weekend, with Rangers kicking off proceedings tonight.

The Gers head to Dundee this evening in search of three points, and whilst Rangers fans – despite crashing out of Europe to Progres Niederkorn over the summer – took great joy from Celtic’s defeat, Graeme Murty is looking at another factor in the game.

Murty, who remains in caretaker charge following Pedro Caixinha’s exit last month, has told The Scotsman that he wants to see Rangers showing the same resiliency that PSG showed to come from a goal down against Celtic.

Murty acknowledged that PSG have the most expensive player in history at their disposal in Neymar, but Rangers must trust their methods even when going behind, rather than panicking and sinking into their shell as they did against Hamilton Academical last week.

“What we need to do is be more resilient [if going 1-0 down] and come back. We need to have a bit of the PSGs about us,” said Murty. “I just thought they showed a fantastic response after going a goal down so early in the game. They trusted the players, they trusted their methods and they were open, expressive and brave.”

“Albeit, they have a £200 million man who makes a slight difference but other than that the attitude and application after going a goal down is what you what have expected. There was no change in method or tactic, they just believed in what they were doing. When you have a team that believes in themselves it translates into good performances,” he added.
