Twitter reaction to Barkley to Liverpool report, ‘more chance of me going on the moon’

Reports in the press this morning linked Ross Barkley with a move across Stanley Park from Everton to Liverpool.

According to reports in the Daily Star this morning, Liverpool were considering a bit of £38m for Everton’s Ross Barkley.

Not since Abel Xavier made the switch across Stanley Park in 2002 has a player moved between two clubs, and Everton boss Roberto Martinez has laughed off any suggestions that Barkley will be making the move across Stanley Park – especially after turning down a bit of £50m from Manchester United for the player.

Twitter users have been giving their opinion ever since the news surfaced last night that Liverpool could be considering such a bid, and there has been a lot laughter and disbelief that the story could be true.

Those that contemplated the reality of Liverpool actually buying the 20-year-old in the summer suggested he would be a good signing but the overriding feeling that it was somehow far-fetched and wouldn’t happen – very much the same opinion of the Everton manager.
